A new work by composer Luke Styles, Tracks in the Orbit, a saxophone concerto composed for Iain Ballamy, will receive its first performance at Cardiff’s BBC Hoddinott Hall on 29 April 2022. Tracks in the Orbit will be performed by Iain Ballamy, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and conductor Fiona Monbet.

Iain Ballamy has composed a setting of the poem ‘The Owl’ by the late Matthew Sweeney. Co-commissioned by Triskel Arts Centre and Cork World Book Fest, and supported by The Arts Council Commissioning Award for Music, this work will be performed as a world premiere as part of Cork World Book Fest 2021 and is a personal tribute by the Composer to Matthew Sweeney who was a leading poet of his generation.
